Pedro Pablo Opeka was born in 29 July 1948 in Argentina. His father, Luis was known for christian sentence to death in World war 2. The death sentence was pronounced by Marshal Tito communist Partisans.He was the only survivor of the massacre in which thousands of people died. Mr Luis met Pedro’s Mother in a refugee camp of Italy and got married to Maria Marolt. His parent’s home country were Yugoslavia.
In 31st December 1947, they immigrate to Argentina. Where his father becomes bricklayer. Pedro in his early his learns how to construct trades. He played football and played like a professional footballer.He decided to become a priest and joined the seminars of Lazarists in Buenos Aires. Then he moved to his parents’ country land Yugoslavia for his further Studies. At the age of 22 he becomes graduated.
Pedro went to Madagascar for his training. Here, he got shocked that with so much poverty people of this country were living. He decided to help them and put out the poverty problem from them.He taught that how to do a hard work and the importance of study. This is not easy for him in starting because being a white man, it’s difficult to engage people in totally different community. The plus point of Pedro is that he knows seven different languages which includes English, French, Spanish, Slovenian, Latin,Italian, Malagasy etc.
His first start playing with children and told them how important is playing a game in this age. Then he starts teaching, learning and writing to those people and enlighten them that how important is education to survive a good life. With the help of the villagers he taught them that how to construct a house. He instructs them that how to do agriculture and seed different flour and vegetables.
As a result, he constructs 18 villages with the population of 4000 families, 37 new schools and still every year a new school has opened. He makes a local Non government organization Akamasoa. Now in Madagascar 3,600 jobs are created for villagers in different areas like carpenter, Bricklayer, cabinet makers and so on.
Pedro Opeka was awarded in 2007 with the award named Legion of Honor. A true example of humanity revolation and with his will power he constructs such place in a world where people starving in poverty. We respect this legendary man. He continues his other services in Madagascar by building new roads and other technology development.
